Tradies are to MyTradie what Beer is to a Pub

Alright everyone, let’s get down to some nitty gritty here. We’re in the midst of a pandemic, although Australia seems to have the outbreak pretty well under control and social distancing restrictions are stating to be relaxed… what does this mean for us and specifically the trades industry? Times are definitely something that have never been seen before, so if you feel like you’re running around with your head in the clouds, not knowing where the next wrecking ball is going to be coming from – you’re not alone! We’re lucky that trades have been considered an essential service and have not been required to shut their doors. That’s not to say that we haven’t been affected. The ripples of social distancing restrictions travel far and wide. We’ve had building sites need to shut down – or at least change the way the operate, bans on travel and who can be in the car together and no more stopping in to the pub on a Friday arvo for a snappy! It was only a few short months ago and we were about to start building MyTradie’s app. Literally, right as COVID-19 was taking the world by storm. People were panic buying toilet paper and rice, countries and cities were shutting down and restrictions were being put in place left, right and centre. We had to pause, take a step back and ask ourselves “Is now really the right time?” our answer was a resounding Yes! Why? Now more than ever trades are going to need an extra source of income or a stream of work. We knew we would have a surplus of trades in the building sector branching in the maintenance realm to keep themselves afloat and put food on their family’s tables. In the same token we also knew that Property Managers and home owners would still need to have maintenance works completed around their homes. MyTradie offers a safe and fair way to achieve all of that with the freedom to do as much or as little as needed. We believe that social distancing and a focus on hygiene is more than likely going to become an everyday part of our lives so why not embrace that in our app and limit the amount of contact required, hence quoting jobs based off information and photos provided and booking works through an app. MyTradie although it will be available throughout Australia still aims to have a support local, support the little guy mentality. We know how hard it is to get a foot in the door and to keep that door open. We’ve been there and done that – in fact, we’re still doing it today! Our local communities are what keep those doors open for us so it’s incredibly important to look after them with trades of an exceptional quality at fantastic rates and it goes both ways – the trades should be treated in the same way! MyTradie’s model operates on the onus that there are no subscriptions, lock in contracts or memberships required. It does not cost anything for anyone to download the app or create an account. Trades do not have to pay for leads, quotes or jobs won. As tradies, we understand what it costs to be able to even drive out of the driveway to go to work every day. Why should you have to pay to have the work to go to as well! That’s why we add a small percentage to the trades quote prior to it going to the customer. Before the Property Managers and Home Owners start saying “Hold on a second there?!” let me offer some clarification here. We negotiate hourly rates with our trades when they come on board with us. This allows us to ensure that the rates passed on to you are still extremely competitive, and in no way will you be getting ripped off. MyTradie endeavours to be the best value service of its kind in the market. MyTradie is and always will be about the people. We have a number of things in the pipeline to keep us honest and on the ball, we’ll be giving you a bit more information on that a little later. We’re pushing along with the app build to have it ready for you all as soon as we can. At this stage it’s looking like August/September of this year. We can’t wait to launch so we can all take a breath of fresh air in knowing that there is a way to do our jobs, or have works completed around our homes without any hidden nasties!
